The Gresham, in Market Street, Leicester will be open for one year in November 2022.
As part of the celebrations, children and adults from across Leicester and Leicestershire are being invited to create artwork themed on things to love about Leicester.
Three winners will be chosen and their designs will be displayed on each level of the legendary staircase at The Gresham.
Eloic Montagnier, General Manager at The Gresham Aparthotel, said: “We thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate our first birthday and involve local people.
We’re incredibly passionate and proud of The Gresham and its location so this seemed like the perfect combination. We’re recruiting well known judges to help us choose three winners whose designs will take pride of place in our ornate, central stairwell which has retained its original features.”
The winners will not only have their artwork centre stage they will also win dinner, bed and breakfast at The Gresham Aparthotel. The boutique aparthotel boasts freedom and flexibility. Guests can choose how they use their space and manage their time. And being situated within walking distance from Leicester’s famous historical attractions, shops, restaurants and sporting facilities.
The £17 million, two-year project by developer, Aimrok Holdings, transformed the Grade II-listed Victorian building from a department store (formerly occupied by retailer, Fenwick) into the high-end, 121-room aparthotel which opened in November 2021. The history and preservation of the building remains intrinsic throughout including all of the windows and the original central staircase.
Eloic, continues: “The chosen pieces will feature on the famous staircase at The Gresham. Local people will know the staircase from its days in Fenwicks. There’s lots to love about Leicester so I am really looking forward to seeing what entries we receive and celebrating turning one.”
The deadline for submissions will be 5pm on Monday 10 October. People can either drop off their artwork into the Aparthotel or email info@thegreshamaparthotel.com
The artwork needs to fit A3 size frames and focused on the theme of things to love about Leicester. There will be three age categories for people to enter under 12s, 12-16 and over 16s. Please make sure entries have contact details with them including, name, age and contact telephone number (parent/guardian contact details also required).
The winners will be announced as part of the first birthday celebrations in November.
Terms & Conditions
The closing date for the competition is 5pm on Monday 10 October. The winner(s) will be directly notified after the competition has ended.
In order to enter, entrants must follow the instructions outlined. Entrants are required to meet the criteria specified but otherwise, no purchase is necessary.
People will be selected by an independent panel to win the prize on offer and will be contacted by a member of The Gresham Aparthotel team using the email address provided.
Employees and contractors of The Gresham Aparthotel are not eligible to enter the competition.
The competition is open to UK residents of any age. If you are under 18 years old, you represent and warrant to us by entering this competition that your parents/guardians have consented to your entry and to these terms and conditions, which they have read. Proof of age and identity may be required.
You may submit multiple entries.
Illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted.
We do not accept responsibility for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Please note that entries will not be returned.
The Gresham Aparthotel will have the right to publicly disclose the name of the winner. The winner’s name will be published on social media/media platforms.
The prize is an overnight stay for up to 2 people sharing a double or twin room, including dinner and breakfast. No person under the age of 18 can check-in and stay without their parents or guardian(s) over the age of 18.
If the potential winner cannot be contacted or the prize notification is returned or is undeliverable, such a potential winner forfeits all rights to any prize, and an alternate winner may be selected.
Unless otherwise stated, the prize winner will be responsible for travel to and from the hotel.
An unclaimed prize may not be awarded.
The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.
The Gresham Aparthotel reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of similar value should the need arise.
Entry implies acceptance of these terms and conditions as final and binding.
Entries that are not in accordance with the terms and conditions will be disqualified.
The Gresham Aparthotel reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the prize competition at any time (and for any reason) without notice.
Prize dates are based on availability and exclusions apply.
The Gresham Aparthotel’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
