Artwork by local student takes ‘pride of place’ at The Gresham

The Gresham Aparthotel on Market Street, Leicester has been open for one year. To help mark this milestone, people from across Leicester and Leicestershire were invited to create artwork themed on ‘things to love about Leicester.'

Keira Ghuman (pictured), aged 11, a student at Brookvale Groby Learning Campus, entered the competition with her hand painted artwork of Bradgate Park. This piece was chosen as the winner of the under 16s category and will now appear on the ‘famous’ staircase at The Gresham Aparthotel.

As the theme was things to love about Leicester, local Leicester experts Becky Jones (What’s On Editor at Leicester Mercury) and Gabby Miller (Owner of Cool As Leicester) - helped Eloic Montagnier (pictured) General Manager at The Gresham to decide on the winning entry.

Eloic Montagnier, General Manager at The Gresham, said: “The local community and businesses have played a significant part in the success of our first year so we thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate our first birthday and involve local people.

“We all instantly loved the artwork Keira had submitted. Although Bradgate Park is not in the city centre it is a place many of our guests make time to visit when they come to stay. We look forward to many more anniversaries and milestones.”

Keira Ghuman, said: “I chose Bradgate Park because I live nearby and go there often. It is very scenic and full of wildlife. It is well known and when I think of Leicester and the surrounding area, I think of Bradgate Park.”

Gabby Miller, Owner of Cool as Leicester, said: “The picture really encapsulates Leicestershire by choosing such a wonderful landmark to draw. With green being such a primary colour in the picture it also brings back elements of Fenwicks and their iconic green branding, which The Gresham is so well remembered for. A lovely picture that will be a wonderful addition to the hotel’s interior.”

As well as having her artwork on display, Keira and her family have also won dinner, bed and breakfast at The Gresham Aparthotel.

Since opening, The Gresham Aparthotel has become ‘the place to stay’ when travelling to Leicester. Occupancy is growing and guest reviews are glowing. The boutique Aparthotel boasts freedom and flexibility. Guests can choose how they use their space and manage their time.

The Aparthotel has also been shortlisted for a number of awards including as The Place to Stay at this evenings Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards and won Best New Business at the Niche Business awards 2022.
