Whats on in Leicester for Diwali

From Monday 6 to Monday 20 October, Leicester will come alive with colour, community, and creativity – and we’ve picked out just a few highlights that you won’t want to miss:

✨Diwali Day – Monday 20 October

Belgrave Road (the famous Golden Mile) will be traffic-free, letting you fully enjoy the lights, food, and festivities. Don’t miss a ride on the iconic Wheel of Light, running from 10 October to 2 November.

🎨We Bring Light

A vibrant new mural featuring twin tigers and powerful female figures celebrates Leicester’s South Asian community. Find it at Doncaster Road and Melton Road, along with lantern displays, a documentary, and more.

📍Highcross Diwali Bazaar – 18 & 19 October

Explore 25 stalls of festive shopping, sweets, cultural workshops, and live performances – all for free inside the old TopMan unit. And don’t miss the Diwali Light Garden (20–24 October) with glowing displays and candle-making activities.

🛍️Diwali Shopping Festival – 12 October

Held at Ramgharia Community Centre, this is the UK’s biggest indoor Diwali market, featuring fashion, jewellery, gifts, and food from across the UK.
