International Basketball Players Return To The Gresham Leicester

The Gresham Leicester welcomed back basketball players from state-side team USA Select, as they travel across Britain and Europe on an exciting scouting tour.
USA Select were invited to play Leicester Riders in an opening preseason fixture, proudly sponsored by The Gresham, at the Mattioli Arena on Memory Lane in Leicester on Friday 5 September 2025.
The Gresham hosted USA Select for two nights, providing rooms for the whole team and coaching staff, as well as catering everyone for breakfast. It was the perfect place to rest, socialise, and energise, just a short taxi ride to the stadium.
The Leicester Riders were comfortable winners as they beat the guests 102-66 whilst demonstrating strong offence, great team chemistry, and impressive performances from both new and returning players.
Despite the final scoreline both teams enjoyed the game with players retiring back to The Gresham bar and restaurant to relax and socialise for the evening.
Following a good night’s sleep at The Gresham, USA Select now continue their international tour - showcasing their performances to talent scouts - in the hope of securing a professional contract.
Meanwhile fans can look forward to seeing the Riders back in action at the Mattioli Arena on Friday, September 19, when they host London Lions in what is anticipated to be a thrilling Super League Basketball season opener, with a number of exciting matches planned.
